Training Students using Vitals

If you have a team of student leaders who serve in your Youth Ministry, Vitals can be a great resource to leverage for the development of your student leadership team. 

1 - Introducing Vitals to your Leaders.

If your student leaders are not familiar with Vitals for Youth Ministry we recommend starting with the following four videos in the Overview Category.  These videos will help you lay a solid foundation and framework for the kind of youth ministry you and your student leaders are building.  


- Session One: What is Vitals?

- Session Two: A Biblical Framework for Vitals.

- Session Three: Building Your Youth Ministry by the Vitals.

- Session Four: How to use Vitals as an Evaluation Tool.

2 - Recommended videos for Student Leaders.

Once your leaders understand the framework of Vitals we recommended the following sessions as some of our top choices for training a student leadership team:

3 - Best Practices for using Vitals for a Leadership Meeting:  

  • Watch the video together as a group.  (20 minutes)


  • You might also choose to ask each student to watch the assigned video in advance so you have more time for discussion and coaching.  


  • Spend time in discussion using the provided discussion questions and notes.  (20 minutes) 


  • If you have a large group of student leaders (10 or more) you might consider breaking into smaller groups for the purpose of discussion.  


  • If you break into smaller groups come back together as a group for a Q&A session after small groups. (20 minutes) 

4 - Best Practices for using Vitals for ongoing leadership development:  

  • The Vitals for Youth Ministry Library is a large and growing resource that one can pull content from for many years.  


  • At times you will discover a video that you might want to send out to your leadership team and recommend they watch.  


  • You might also discover additional content related to Vitals on the Vitals for Youth Ministry Podcast that you watch with your leaders or forward to them.  


  • There are over 100 episodes available on our Student Leadership Podcast that provide relevant training content for your student leaders.
